The motorcycle .....  History and Specs

The AX-1 & NX 250 are almost brothers , the AX-1 is the primary version, and the NX-250 is a less costly version.

Honda  tried to lower the cost , and sacrificed the quality of some parts , by using common metal in parts  that originally was designed to be aluminum or Stanley steel .

Lets see for start , the production time line of this motorcycles .

Unfortunately, production stopped  at 1994 .

Even if plans was to be kept alive until 2000 , who ever took this decision did a big mistake .

At 20-11-1987 Honda announced the First AX-1

Honda in Japan , had the AX-1 and one “more Off “ version  of AX-1, called as Degree .

The chart indicates that the AX  is Off by only 25% .

The owners of AX-1 knows very well that the motorcycle can do a lot more than what the chart indicates :-)

  • Pleasant average touring speed 100Km/h ...Max. 120Km/h
  • Top theoretical speed  140Km/h ( I have get max. 134Km/h  at flat road , and toped to 143km/h at road with declension .
  • Fuel consumption about a Liter per 20 Km  .
  • Tubeless wheels , the back wheel can run even flat from air  ( For emergency's only , and do not run over 60Km/h  ) .

Under this numbers, comes the conclusion , that Honda advises , that the weight of driver + passenger, or the total extra load ,  must be only   234 – 124 = 110 Kg .

This cause laugh to me,  its hard to find a driver in Europe at 60 kg .

Any way , this numbers is here so to point that you must not overload  the motorcycle , in order to have a SAFE journey , at the max. possible speed km/h.

 

Its well known , that when you load you motorcycle with rear top box , your max. final speed, it is advised to be at 120Km/h .

And if you use anything more,  as rear soft side bags, your final speed should drops down more , as 80Km/h or less .

This is what common sense, advise as !! and the manufacturers too.
