Is there anything you can do, surely you must have some backups. I lost a lot
and current copies i kept on your server as well..

Also of a freehost I expect more than only a "Sorry". I think it's time
to go to another provider ...
No Problem!

Thanx for the info Michael. This is some great work you are doing nd above all
for free. I and most of us out here respect that. These problems can come if we
would have paid for this service as well.

Keep up the great work Micheal and
all the admins on dhost.info!

Cheers to dhost.info!

Agree with that in every word. This is nice service, everything works ok, and
i'm very satisfied and respectful. Thanks to all admins.
Sollution

What sort of dataloss was it? I could have a sollution for this problem, besides
backup.

If the loss consists of a quick-format or something, you CAN recover
almost anything with Recovery software, like

Active@Undelete

I have a
free full version of the program, if you are interested, please contact me.
Great work

Hello,

please also check the forums
http://dhost.info/forums/index.php/topic,11980....

I'm sorry for the data loss, but with the limited capacities I have, it
is just not possible to make regular backups of the data.
I plan
to rent another server to avoid any of these situation in future.

I
can understand that you might be angry if you lost your data and I
also agree that such a situation should never happen even if it is a
free service. But it is still your responsibility to make backups in any
case of any data - the worst case scenario can
always happen.

Thanks but I tried ext3grep which does normally a fine job, but as there
were too many write operations on the drive it simply was not
possible anymore.

How can I upload my sql db ?
pasp 2009-03-05 10:10:47

I'm trying to upload my sql database,
but it's 3,2 MB while the maximum upload
limit is 2 MB!

Can you make the maximum 4MB so I can upload the database ?
Please, it's urgent!

Is your question relevant to the dataloss of the host? Because Michael
said the database server was not affected. Besides, you could try to
upload your database in segments if you still need that.
pasp 2009-03-05 10:44:48

I tried to reinstall smf because it was deleted after the data loss. The
installer said I couldn't install it since there was already an sql database. So
I took a backup of it and then deleted it. But when I try to import it it says
the file is too big.

I tried breaking it in segments with notepad but if I zip
it, it's not acceptable and if I leave it as sql, it gives me syntax
errors!

Can you make the maximum upload for the sql to 4 MB so I could try
restoring the original backup file ?
Michael 2009-03-05 18:45:25

Do you use http://dhost.info/phpmyadmin/ for importing the database?

Michael
pasp 2009-03-05 20:56:13

Yes I used phpmyadmin, and I managed to upload it in parts using a
sqlsplitter...

My problem now is that all the greek characters are shown with
"?" ... And that's a big problem, because almost every post is written
in greek

I tried changing the language in database but still nothing.

I
know this is not relevant to the topic, but anyone know how can I fix it ?
melaniecomeau 2009-03-05 15:06:47

Oh is that why my site is not there anymore? Can I re-upload it?
melaniecomeau 2009-03-05 15:20:31

OK, I'm back up. Good thing I had a back up. (why wouldn't I?)

profmemberone 2009-07-10 11:15:47

You can read more about this at the forums, please visit http://dhost.info/forums/index.php/topic,11980....

If everyone kept backups up their site, Dhost wouldn't really need to be
responsible for it. Plus, it's free, haha.
