Elijah Biography
Born as Elijah Jordan Wood on the 28th of January 1981, Elijah, or 'Lij' was an extremely energetic young child. When Elijah was in Kindergarten (1988), his mother enrolled him in a local talent/modeling school, hoping to find an outlet for his excessive bouts of energy. It seemed to work, and soon enough, he was spotted and was picked up by an agency. He appeared in some commercials and other things. Sensing Elijah had enough talent to make it big, his mother packed up the whole family and moved to LA with the young Elijah and his older brother. His father and his younger sister also moved to LA.
In 1987, at age 6, he was in the chorus for "The Sound of Music", his elementary school's annual festival. He also played the Wizard of Oz in the same festival a year later and was a choir boy in the Marion Creative Council's production of "See How They Run".
Elijah got his start in film when he appeared in 1989's"Back to the Future II" for a small role. After a couple more small roles, he got a considerable part in "Child in the Night". After that, things just kept getting better for the young star.
He began landing lead-child parts in films like Paradise, Avalon and Radio Flyer. As one of Hollywood's best and newest child-actors, he landed more parts, and it wasn't too long before teeny-bobber magazines snatched him up as the newest teen heart-throb. Elijah continued making films, doing his schoolwork onset, and avoiding regular High School altogether, and being home-schooled when he wasn't making movies.
In 1998, while filming "The Faculty" with Josh Hartnett, when he heard about Lord of the Rings being made into a movie. Knowing this was a not-to-be-missed opportunity, he filmed his own audition and sent it to New Line Cinema. He was cast soon after. Making some of the best friends of his life onset and doing crazy things while filming (tattoos, urinating in fountains), he came away saying it was a life changing experience. Thrust into the spotlight, Elijah reached the level of stardom most actors dream about. This young actor (now 24) is known wherever he goes.
