This Year, Command & Conquer, the strategy-game franchise that in 1995 completely changed the direction to Strategy Gaming Worldwide is celebrating its 10th anniversary!
As some of you may know, I am currently staff at CnCWorld along with running DHS. I used to work at ConquerGaming as a news updated (before it died) and I was a news updater at the CnCCommunity Hub.

» C&C First Decade Soon!!!
[ C&C News | Posted by: Mad Ivan @ 09:03pm on 28th of January ]
(What can i tell you? There is just no way i can get in the Official C&C Webbies Newsletter...)

The countdown to Command & Conquer The First Decade has officially begun! We are just over one week from our February 7th ship date to strike the Command & Conquer community with a decade compilation of some of the most renowned RTS games of all time. Command & Conquer The First Decade would not be possible without the living, breathing, and gargantuan C&C community that is still salivating for anything C&C and excited about the future.

With over 100 modifications active in the C&C community and thousands of games being played every day throughout every game included in The First Decade compilation, we expect there have been some amazing scenes of destruction, chaos, humor, and rare C&C moments that exemplify what this historic RTS series is all about. It is time to capitalize on those scenes and induct them in to the official, "Command & Conquer Hall of Fame".

Command & Conquer Hall of Fame
We are launching the Command & Conquer Hall of Fame to seek out the best screenshots ever taken for any Command & Conquer game or modification. Dig up those incredible shots, replay the games, and capture your most breath-taking moments, and send them our way for a chance to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

With this opportunity comes an exciting contest that will progress through the launch of Command & Conquer The First Decade.
Beginning Monday, January 30th and continuing each week, community members and gamers of all nature can submit a screenshot from any previous Command & Conquer game or modification from the past 10 years. From there, our EA RTS development team will pick the Top 5 screenshots based on ANY of the following criteria:

# Explosive action,
# Humor and creativity,
# Nostalgic effect (capturing historic moments),
# Modding creativity,
# Cinematic flare.

Each week, 5 screenshots will be inducted in to the Command & Conquer Hall of Fame on our official site. After a set period of time (to be determined), the community will narrow down the selection from each week through a series of voting polls to determine the top Command & Conquer screenshot of all time. The winner will receive a rare exclusive NVIDIA 7800 GT 256MB graphic card skinned with Command & Conquer. Runner-up prizes will also be given in the form of some valuable Logitech goodies. See the image below:

Rules for screenshot submission are as follows:

# You may submit a maximum of 3 screenshots per week,
# Screenshots must be submitted as a JPG format,
# Resolution must be 1024x768 or 800x600,
# Photoshop or any graphic program are prohibited from altercations,
# Screenshots from modifications based on copyrighted licenses are prohibited,
# Screenshots from a modification can be from a project currently in production,
# Profanity and crude imaging are prohibited.

Please submit all screenshots to rtscommunityleaders@ea.com. For each submission, please include your first and last name, a short caption for your screenshot, C&C game or modification your screenshot was taken from, and your e-mail address.

Once again, please submit to rtscommunityleaders@ea.com

We are very excited to launch the official Command & Conquer Hall of Fame and see what you got!

Long live C&C!

» Voxel Contest!!! [ C&C News | Posted by: Mad Ivan @ 03:15am on 29th of November ] Recieved this via mail today:

Martin Killer, staffer of C&C Guild and leader of CnC Reactor - Polish C&C community, has decided to organize next voxel competition, since the last one was good while ago. The first concept was to attract Polish members of the community into the competition, but now, it has been decided to allow members from the whole C&C community to enter. The voxels will be judged in the following way:

- Details (normals, model appearrance) - 25%
- Concept and Creativity - 35%
- Scheme - 15%
- Technical Details (such as HVA) - 25%

Your submissions must be send to Martin Killer (e-mail available in the news item - cnccompet[AT]o2.pl ) and the time is set by December 15th, 2005. If you know Polish, you can view plenty of tutorials here or just take a look around our international community. Remember that there has been update of Voxel Section Editor III recently, so I think it can help you a lot.

You might remember Voxel Grand Prix IV. The rules are quite similar as I see, with some changes in ways of judging (posted above). Submissions will be posted on CnC Reactor and YR Argentina short while after the results, and best will be featured as special downloads - winners of the competition.

Good luck for all the contestants!

» C&C For your cellphone & New Frank Klepacki [ C&C News | Posted by: Mad Ivan @ 07:42am on 5th of November ] Must be press-release day at EA :P

Anyways, read this:

REDWOOD CITY, CA, Nov. 4 /CNW Telbec/ - Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:ERTS - News)
today announced that it is teaming up with Nettwerk Music Group, a Vancouver-
based company, to launch EA(TM) Recordings - a groundbreaking digital music
distribution label that will bring EA's rich catalogue of wholly-owned musical
compositions and remixes to Digital Service Providers (DSPs) worldwide. An
industry first, this initiative will deliver music clips from blockbuster EA
games as ringtones, mastertones or in .mp3 format to online download
destinations including Apple iTunes, MSN, Yahoo Music, AOL Music, Rhapsody and
others.

This agreement marks EA and Nettwerk's recognition that music lovers and
game fans are consuming digital media in a multi-disciplinary manner. EA is
the first interactive entertainment company to sell its catalogue of music in
digital download format via exclusive partnership with a leading music group.

The partnership announced today complements Next Level Music, EA's joint
venture with Cherry Lane Music Publishing since that project is focused on
signing artists and licensing EA music to TV, movies and commercials, while
the agreement with Nettwerk is focused on direct-to-consumer online music
sales.

"Audiences today are media masters - they listen, play, download, watch
and basically devour their entertainment in revolutionary new ways. They
demand that the technology keep pace. This deal is a triumphant new commitment
to making classic EA music and themes available to millions worldwide," said
Steve Schnur, Worldwide Executive of Music and Music Marketing at EA. "We are
proud to be on the cutting-edge of this trend with Nettwerk -- an innovative
and proven partner that is a world leader in digital music distribution."

"We've entered a new age where video games are arguably more powerful
than the radio when it comes to exposing audiences to music. Nettwerk could
not be more thrilled to partner with today's most respected and exciting
gaming brand, on the cusp and ahead of the curve," said Terry McBride, CEO,
Nettwerk Music Group. "We look forward to delivering EA's bold themes and
soundtracks to both gaming fans and music lovers alike."

Over the past twenty years, EA has amassed over 3,000 minutes of wholly-
owned musical compositions which have been featured in blockbuster game
franchises such as Medal of Honor(TM) and The Sims(TM) as well as sports games
such as NBA LIVE basketball and NASCAR(R) racing. Unforgettable orchestral
works have been produced by such award-winning composers as Sean Callery,
Michael Giacchino, Chris Lennertz, Trevor Jones and Mark Mothersbaugh. Game
beats have been produced by such artists as Da Riffs and Just Blaze while
original songs and remixes have been custom-cut by Paul Oakenfold and others.

The music roll-out kicked off today but will be regularly updated with
new releases and back-catalogue favorites. By the end of the year, the
following music will be available online:

Sorry for noting but since when did Frank Klepacki change his name to "Various"?

Speaking of Mr.Klepacki, he released his new album - "Virtual Control" Today.

This is Frank`s 3rd solo release, continuing the style of Command & Conquer soundtracks he`s made popular over the years, and coincidentally, that game has celebrated a 10 year anniversary this year.

I am personaly a progressive-rock type person, but Frank K. is exceptional .

On a side note: So he didnt change his name after all...and he really did them soundtracks he isnt geting credited for...interesting...
