Q: What might be the cause of that:

"phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database"

Some background info, I can connect to both my databases just fine, CuteFTP shows no problems with the files and PHPMyAdmin connects to mysql database just fine. My account still exists, apparently, so it's not that it's been deleted since I stopped logging on after that error took my forum down. The only route of the problem that I was able to trace it back to would be this: "Your PHP MySQL library version 5.0.32 differs from your MySQL server version 5.0.45. This may cause unpredictable behavior." ... and I think, it did cause odd behavior... Sad

Q2: How do I get my forum back and running?

(I tried updating mysql on my pc, but I'm pretty green when it comes to mysql and updating my existing database, not sure how to update what I already have and has been working before)

This question is already answered in the general mysql FAQ -- The mysql host must be 'mysql', not localhost.

In your config.php, change:
Code:
$dbhost = 'localhost';
to
Code:
$dbhost = 'mysql';

I did this for you, darkforums.
