Well I'm out of space on my old 40GB HDD and I've decided to buy a new one.

I want to buy 160GB HDD, but I'm not sure if my BIOS supports this...
Who has HDD bigger than 137GB installed, write your PC config here! Wink

I have K7VTA3 Rev 3.0B MB with Award BIOS 6.00PG 04/19/22

Any suggestions? I don't want to buy 160GB HDD and have only 128GB appear... Wink

External hard drive. That's what I am going to do. =)

I'm also reaching my maximum occupancy on my 40GB hard drive.

I've got two 40GB hard drives. First one is for OS and second one is for storage and swap file + temp files.  Wink
I bought an enclosure on USB for one of my drives to connect it as exteranl one to my notebook but I don't recommend it. I don't know how it is with "premade" external hard drives. But I once heard on official USB forum that USB standard is not a best idea to connect hard drives as external (especially if you have VIA USB bus or conntroller) because it's losing connection all the time... My drive lost it connection while transfering a file and now I've got bad sectors on it...   Better idea is a Firewire external drive I think.

depends how old your comp is, what board you have. And anyways, a FIREWIRE External drive is best at 480MBPS.. Beats IDE = 180MBPS - 250MBPS. If your comp was made.. 2003/2004, it should be able to read that.
If you go internal, You'll need hard drive fan's for a drive that size.
But be careful! Some external drives LIMIT it to 128GBs also.
USB 2.0 is a dumb option for External drives Im sorry, firewire of internal..
