Brumml's snorkel

The long pipe I bent out of a wider aluminum ventilation pipe, sealed it with silicone and pop-riveted it together. It has 75mm diameter and is 1.7mm thick. The lower clamp is bolted to the outside of the wind screen hinge ( I took the original bolt out). The upper clamp consists of the big L-shaped alu profile you can see on the pic and a smaller one placed inside the rain gutter. The bolt that holds them together points 45° downward to press the smaller L into the gutter. You probably don't need a that big lower clamp, but I first thought to get away without the upper one.

The flexible hose (1.1m long) attaches directly to the air cleaner box ( I took the intake muffler off).

The big black pot on the top is a self made precleaner. But it was more a see-if-I-can-do-that project. A simple cap on the top will do the trick, although the cyclone gathers quite some dust even on the clean German roads.

The total costs were about 40US$ for the flexible hose. The metal parts I got for free since they were scrap.

I hope that this is somehow transformable for Range Rovers. For a Series vehicle you just have to think about a connection to the air cleaner box. I'd take the top off here and place a short 90° pipe angle on the intake hole to connect to the flexible hose. Keeping it there could be probably done with the stud in the center .
