Hobbies and Interests
|
Music is a big part of my life. Listening
to many genres of music and playing instruments is
one of my major hobbies. In my spare time I enjoy
playing the guitar and keyboard. Singing is also
another of my pastimes and I have occasionally performed
with a local rock band, and onstage for a local Amateur
Dramatics Society. I have also
voluntarily hosted a number of hospital and college
radio shows which have helped improve my radio persona.
Outside of the music world, I enjoy walking, reading,
and amateur dramatics.

BA Honors Degree Information
|
Throughout my BA Honors Degree in
Media and Film Studies, I undertook a number of different
units and modules revolving around the various aspects
of popular culture. Music was a major part of these
units and the knowledge gained from this has helped
me dramatically with my radio work. Through these
units I also gained an amount of technical skill from
radio and video production. During my final year of
the course, I gained a first class mark for a video
documentary which was set in a local Nursery Pre–school.
For the video, I was required to plan, film and edit
the acquired video footage for a specific target audience.
Audio techniques were also employed during the production
of the documentary in order to provide a more atmospheric
and interesting end result. My
Final Dissertation specifically focused on the emergence
of progressive rock, and in particular albums such
as 'Sgt. Pepper', by the Beatles, and 'Dark Side of
the Moon' by Pink Floyd. The nature of my dissertation
highlights my interest and dedication to music, and
alternative tastes to my peers.
