Windows Live Writer Installed.
Windows Live Writer is one of those Live Ideas by Microsoft which provides ease to bloggers with its blogger-friendly features. The one that I liked the most is its ability to inherit the actual theme you used on your blog. It makes you feel like you are blogging from your blog’s front page. Another thing I liked is its ability to transmit images to your blog via FTP. Of course, if there’s a lot of feature, there’s a also a lot of bugs. One thing I want this tool to have is the ability to add new categories. I can’t insert <!– more –> tag, though. Is it present already? This tool is still on it’s beta stage, by the way.
I’ve used this desktop blogging tool before but for some very confidential matter, I uninstalled it.
It’s just only today that I am brave enough to install it again.
At first, I thought that it would just take 2-3 minutes to install but I was wrong. The reason - I ran some troubles that I can’t figure out why it happened or how it happened. Until now that I successfully installed it and I am actually using, I still don’t know why nor how.
WINDOWS LIVE WRITER INSTALLATION ERROR.
As I ran the installer, it seemed that there’s nothing going wrong until you click the next button after the TOC. The error displays a message like:
Error reading file blah blah blah… Make sure that the file is accessible.
I Googled around and found some tips that it requires dotnet framework 2.0. So I installed it. It quite long to download and install and when I ran the installer again, same error message appeared. I thought there’s something wrong with the installer that I downloaded so I download a new one to no avail. I upgraded to dotnet framework 3.0 and still no progress.
So I tried moving the installer to a lower directory. This time, on my desktop. I ran the installer, and a different error message appeared.
HOW DID I GET AROUND THE INSTALLATION?
I simply copied the installer down to C:\ directory and ran it from there. Violah! I’m now using it.
WHY DID I INSTALL IT?
It always takes me long to create a post so obviously I want to do it offline, while I feel I’m online.
So on my free time, I can go back to my drafts and continue typing. And see what I have type so far on my other blog. Too short, isn’t it?

I haven’t used it yet, mainly because I’m better acquainted with WordPress and have no enough patience to try to use anything else, hehe. But knowing myself as someone who hates BUGS, thanks but no thanks. ^_^
ill try this one out…
have you guys tried flock too ?
never tried that. let me see.
One quick question? Why would you use something else than the Wordpress editor?
Anyways, I haven’t tried the Windows Live Writer but I have tried the one in Flock. For me, the one in Wordpress is still the best one to use.
As long as possible, I also don’t want to use editors than WP editor. I just don’t want them notice that I’m typing on my blog. hehe.
You know…
thanks! i’ll ask my son, J Angelo (http://racoma.com.ph) about this, and perhaps, he can give me some lessons. i’m very poor in doing this.
belated happy valentine’s day!
