The rally point is the location where the troops are kept track of. A player can send troops, see the overview, or use the combat simulator from this building. It may only be built in the small grassy field just to the right of the village center.

The main purpose of upgrading the rally point is to allow accurate targeting with a catapult. At level 1 or 2, catapults can only aim randomly. At level 3, you gain the ability to target fields (woodchopper, clay pit, iron mine, and crop farm); at level 4 you can target a warehouse or granary; each level thereafter allows your catapults to target more types of buildings. Even at the highest level, you cannot target a cranny.

You also need level 10 rally point to research roman and gaul administrators (chieftain or senator) and to build the tournament square. For a teuton administrator (chief) a level 5 rally point will suffice.
