Talk:Tutorials:Getting StartedFrom Travian v2 Wiki (S2-S6), the encyclopedia anybody can editIt says here you can not be attacked, so building offensive buildings is a waste or resources. That is not a valid conclusion, since offensive resources will enable you to attack, not be attacked. Unless offcourse you can't be attacked, but also can not attack during the protection period. If that is true, the information should be added to this page. Wim You cannot be attacked, but can attack. It may be a good strategy (especially for Teutons, certainly not for Gauls) to build some army at the end of the first week, but do it smart, and attack smart. What I mean by that is this: upgrade Main building to lvl 3 and build the Rally point so you can build the Barracks. When you've built the barraks, train 1 unit. With this unit you can attack nearby villages; if they are still under protection, you get a message saying when protection expires. You can also target yourself, to see when your protection expires. If the unit starts on an attack, it means that player's protection has expired and you may attack. But since you only have 1 unit, cancel the attack for now (the red X). Now, your targets are generally villages with population smaller than yours, so they cannot retaliate. Build up a small army of 15-25 clubswingers/legionaire, then you may attack. The strategy is best for Teutons, which have the cheap and effective clubswingers and useless for Gauls, which have the 1st available unit the defensive phalanx (they're not meant for attacking).
[edit] Much more comprehensiveI'm new to Wiki (this is my first official edit on any Wiki) But, I'd like to dabble a bit around this Wiki. Since I'm new to Travian I think this will be a good place for me to start. You can feel free to critisize me if you like. I'm pretty friendly. This page needs to be much more comprehensive. It hardly touches on anything and is far from comforting for the new user. I'd like to see a page that EVERY first timer can be referred to and can find an explaination for each and every button and a good general strategy for day one and two. (build recources) I also think that screen captures would be extremely helpful but I cannot find how to upload images. I suppose I could host them myself. [edit] maybe a "beginning strategy"?A page which can show a couple of good strategies for each tribe and why they work? Something beyond the simple "how to click the buttons" that this page offers and actually suggests what to do and when. I saw a couple of very good ones on the forums. [edit] Strategy/Tactics for NewbiesYeah, what Bandor said! This tutorial is a good first look at the absolute basics, but after that a newbie (or at least *this* newbie) just pokes around in the dark, manages his resources poorly, builds the wrong things at the wrong time, etc. It'd be reeeeeeally helpful if some wise Travian oldie would take a shot at writing a good strategy for beginners page, with sections like "Getting Your Resources Rolling", "Building up for Defense", "Building up for Offence", "Success in the Marketplace", etc. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? --Savian 16:30, 20 September 2006 (EDT) |
